An award-style touring production for schools and libraries that pairs shadow puppetry with rod puppets to retell folk tales from around the world. Choose from three programs: Reading Adventures, which celebrates library skills and a love of books; The Kindness Garden, about empathy and cooperation; and Little Scientists, which explores light, shadow and the water cycle. Each 45-minute performance is followed by a 15-minute behind-the-screen demonstration where students see how the puppets work and ask questions. Programs are aligned with Virginia SOL and Maryland early-literacy goals, and a downloadable teacher guide is included. We set up our lit shadow screen in any gym, media center or multipurpose room, and need about 45 minutes before the first show.
